| Good friends are wonderful, and hard to come by. There are several people in my life that I do not treat with the respect that they deserve. I try but I am sometimes distracted by my own problems, work, and life in general. When I realize what I have done I step up and apologize to them and ask for their forgiveness and I try not to do it again. This usually involves grovelling and prostration(look it up) with copious amounts of beer for both parties. We talk, then we hug it out like grown ups should do. What amazes me is how many people never realize what they are doing, or worse yet do not believe that they have done anything at all. My favorite are the people who say one thing and then do another. "People should not say mean things to others", yet they are the first ones to start blasting away at other peoples lives regardless if they know the real story ( I honestly wonder if they know anything at all past their own pride). I personally do not care. I have always let the little people have their opinions; it usally just proves how small they are. It does, however, hurt those around me and for that they will not be forgiven. I have a very short list but it is growing. Bear in mind that at the end of it all when you are the only one left screaming you haven't won, you are sadly just alone.
Good friends are wonderful and when you find one or group of them hold on tight. I have several people in my life that are incredible. I get the pleasure of working with them often, being with them on the weekends or seeing them every morning and night. They are smart, articulate, humorous, beautiful people and I feel lucky to have them in my life. Thank you for every thing you do; I hope I can be just as good to you, now and forever, amen.
Just so there's no confusion, if you think this post is about you...
it is. | | |
| I case you have not perused my profile, I am a photographer. I work with light almost every day. Recently I had the absolute pleasure to photograph IMP's latest production. It was visually stunning. I can not remember the last time I saw a show where the light was like a character in the play, perhaps the lead. An almost bare stage is brought to life every performance by the actor, music and the lighting. It is in a word amazing.
Kudos to Daniel!! Great job!! If you have not seen the show, make plans to do so. Here are a few favorite images I took:

When you pull these to your own websites tell em where ya got em.
Thanks for looking...
P.S. "Robin Hood" went well. It should be perfect some time next week (hehehe)
| The Botanical Gardens has a new ampitheater. If you are intrested in seeing several grown men act completely silly and several not so grown men acting just as silly, topped off with a couple of very good looking young ladies (some in the show, some not) come to the Botanical Gardens and see "The Legend of Robin Hood.....Well, Sorta". Robin Hood is played trippingly by Dr. Dave. I play the quick witted "Little" John, but the reason to come is to enjoy John Seigh and Jeremy Wood potray Prince John and the Sheriff, respectively. It is an all ages show and there are activities for the kids during the show and at intermission. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Hey, I love you so much. And I hope to see ya'll there.
Bring the actors food...and don't forget the bug spray.
| Real entry coming later; for now, enjoy this:

| Thank you to everyone who did not. I would like to thank those people who were, but got too busy. Those people who said "I'm going do that" but their plans to follow through...fell through. The poor time managers, poor choice makers, and every one who "was"...who didn't.
Because guess what? I DID, I WILL, and I am loving it.

As I get older, I enjoy more and more the absurd situations of life. Kite flying with a six year old and two year old in tow is the perfect example of this. Let's call them Connor and Kaitlyn. Our situation begins on a blustery Sunday afternoon, ground still puddled after a night of heavy rain. The air, nippy with a fallish fill. A brand new Dragon kite excitedly unfurled at the edge of an open field.
We spent a good hour flying the kite, at the end of its line, high above us kissing the clouds. Connor did most of the flying although Kaitlyn helped and held the kite for at least 10 seconds before turning her attention back to the perfectly placed puddles near our kite flying spot. At the end of this glorious hour Connor turns to me and says, " OK Daddy, I need to go to the potty now". Not a dilemma as I was raised in the country and have long ago extolled the virtues of tree peeing to my son. I pointed out the closest tree and told Connor to go to it. After several minuets of watching Kaitlyn circle a puddle smiling and talking to herself I look over at my son holding his "parts" and doing the dance. I asked what was wrong and he said, "I think the the tree will not work, I need to go poopoo. RIGHT NOW DADDY." As I frantically reel in the dragon I tell him he can hold it, when to my left I hear an ominous splash followed by the very loud Kaitlyn yelling "I swimnin, I swimnin!!".
Just to recap: we are several minutes from the closest bathroom, I am holding my son's birthday kite and the end of its very long string and I can not let it go, my son is now holding his bottom and his parts while dancing frenetically to the I have to go right now mantra, and Kaitlyn, beautiful sweet little Kaitlyn, is lying on her back in a giant rain puddle flapping her arms and singing a song about "swimnin"
Man I love family outings.
